Ken's Marathon Major Comeback

Donation protected
In December of 2015, I was nearly killed in a hit and run while cycling in Miami Beach, FL, USA. Since then I have suffered through a variety of spinal and neurological issues.  I've lost my livelihood and my home... but I'm not ready to stop living!

Just over three years later, I am running through the pain and have committed to running all six of the world marathon majors within a year!  This accomplishment will be a major milestone of my ongoing recovery - finding ways to persevere and overcome the myriad of challenges I continue to face.   Completing over 150 of the running worlds most elite miles is no small task!

On April 15th, I returned to Boston - where 6 years earlier I stood at the finish line as tragedy unfolded.  This was a powerful and emotional start to this incredible journey!  The Boston Marathon is like no other!

Just two weeks later, I have chosen to be a part of the #ActionSquad, and raise money and awareness for some of the many affected by hearing loss at the London Marathon. This is an issue I feel strongly about, as I have been personally struggling without full function of the senses (including tinnitus), and as such understand the plight of those effected by hearing issues similar to or worse than my own.

A few short months later I will be running through the Brandenburg gate at the Berlin Marathon, before returning to the states for Chicago and New York to close out 2019.  Early in 2020, I’ll complete this quest with Tokyo, before hopefully returning to Boston to celebrate!

All six marathon majors in one year!  What an incredible way to celebrate the simple fact that I'm still alive.  And, despite the pain, still running!

The beauty of this sport is the inclusiveness and supportiveness it fosters. While the miles I run will be healing for myself, they will also be so much more. With your help we can raise funds to aid those affected by invisible ailments.  Together, we can change the world.

For my UK friends (or those who don't have foreign transaction fees on their credit cards) you can sponsor my run in London directly through Virgin Money Giving . Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.  All funds donated this way will be passed directly to Action for Hearing Loss.

For my friends stateside (or who prefer to donate in USD), you can donate here.  I'll take care of exchanging the currency on your behalf.

I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
