I am running the Wineglass Marathon on September 30th, 2018 to raise money for the Blessed Sacrament Supper Program. Our family has volunteered at Soup Kitchen for years and have found fewer things in our lives to be more rewarding than serving others.
I am asking for your support as I run my first marathon by donating to this cause. In speaking with the folks that run the Soup Kitchen I've learned the Soup Kitchen is in need of two items that they cannot currently afford to purchase. Please help me by donating. Your tax-deductible contributions will be used to purchase an Event Grill (allowing for large quantities of food to be BBQ'd or grilled instead of oven cooked), and also a Robot Coupe, an industrial grade food processor (much of this work is currently done by hand). My goal is to raise $2,600 ($100 per mile) which allows for both items to be purchased.
Anything raised in excess of the items' cost, Liz and I are going to use to provide a more nurturing experience for the many families that attend each week, primarily the children. One of the visions that stays with us each week after we leave are the high chairs that are set out so that young kids, even babies and infants can be served a meal.
Blessed Sacrament's Supper Program serves over 450 meals each week - over 23,000 meals per year to folks who could use a hand. Some have nowhere else to go, some have families they can't afford to feed, some are working to better their own situation and just need a hand.
I chose to run a marathon this year because I knew it would be extremely difficult and take me way out of my comfort zone. I am so thankful for that opportunity to do this. I would be so honored if you would support me by helping to support those who need it most.
