<div>I’ll be running my 34th marathon in Bournemouth, Dorset. This week’s cause is government corruption, and I’m running for Represent, a US-based non-profit working to break the grip of money, dishonesty, and abuse of power in politics.

<div>What is government corruption?
</div>
<div>Corruption is when leaders place personal wealth and power above the people they are meant to serve. It weakens democracy, feeds inequality, and erodes trust in institutions. In recent years, there has been a presidency marked by dishonesty, financial conflicts of interest, and efforts to undermine democratic norms. Administration not only prioritised for personal gain but also left real human suffering in its wake—families torn apart at the border, citizens losing faith in elections, and communities divided by fear and hate.

<div>Why am I running for this cause?
</div>
<div>Because when corruption takes hold, it destroys lives. It isn’t just a matter of politics—it’s about whether people have fair representation, whether leaders can be trusted, and whether democracy itself survives. Trump’s years in power showed how fragile these systems can be, and how easily the interests of the powerful can silence ordinary people.

<div>Represent is a grassroots organisation committed to fighting political corruption in the US. They work to reform campaign finance, increase transparency, and empower communities to hold leaders accountable. They also encourage young people to step into politics with integrity and to build systems that serve citizens rather than corporations or corrupt elites.
