MARATHON NO.1; SOMERSET FOR BLACK LIVES MATTER

This journey starts in Somerset, starting with one of the biggest angers I have to my heart; racial injustice, specifically for black lives. I don't think I will ever understand the daily struggles of having a darker skin tone can bring to life, but that doesn't mean it doesn't make me sick to my stomach.

Children facing discrimination in schools through harsher punishments and lower expectations compared to their peers, job opportunities fewer and promotions harder statistically, the emotional burden of being seen as a threat, whether it’s through subtle acts like being followed in stores or through more severe encounters like disproportionate police brutality; it's all fucking disgusting.

Yet, despite these challenges, Black communities show incredible strength, unity, and hope, fighting tirelessly for a future where equality is more than just a distant ideal—it’s a lived reality. Again, I will never ever understand the struggles, but I will stand for them.

This marathon is my way of standing up, step by step, for justice, equality, and the undeniable truth that every Black life matters.

Every mile I run is a mile against injustice. Every stride is a stride toward a world where Black voices are heard, Black futures are protected, and Black lives are valued.

While running, I want to be reminded of the deep pain, resilience, and courage of those who have marched, protested, and fought for equality throughout history. I run in solidarity with them, knowing that change is a marathon, not a sprint.

This isn’t just about raising money. It’s about raising awareness, amplifying voices, and refusing to be silent, putting a middle finger up to any twat who thinks we shouldn't be equal.

BLM focuses on promoting racial justice and equality, supporting Black communities, and advocating against systemic violence and discrimination.

Donations are used to support a range of initiatives aimed at addressing racial inequality and empowering Black communities. A significant portion goes toward grassroots organizing through a $6.5 million fund, which provides local chapters with unrestricted grants to amplify their efforts in community activism and advocacy.

BLM also focuses on civic engagement, including campaigns to combat voter suppression and promote political education, ensuring that Black communities have a stronger voice in the democratic process.

Additionally, funds support educational programs, cultural initiatives, and mental health resources that uplift and strengthen Black individuals and communities. While BLM operates on a large scale, their investment in local chapters ensures that donations make a tangible impact at both the community and systemic levels.

Backed up by their by consistent efforts in transparency and impact, this is an undeniably good cause for you to donate to.

Running this marathon won’t solve everything, but it’s my way of putting one foot in front of the other, committing to this fight, and refusing to stop until we all cross the finish line of equality.

You're either contributing to the rise or supporting the fall.

I'll see you in Somerset January 4th.
