<div>De Marathon des Sables (MDS) (Frans: marathon van het zand) is een zesdaagse ultraloop van ongeveer 250 km, gelopen in de woestijn van Zuid-Marokko. De loop wordt beschouwd als de zwaarste voettocht ter wereld. De loop bestaat uit zes etappes, die in zeven dagen gelopen worden. Iedere deelnemer draagt zijn of haar eigen rugzak (12 tot 15kg) met eten, drinken, slaapzak, matje, noodfluit, warmtedeken, kompas, zonnebrand etc.

<div><strong>Waarom Kika?</strong>
</div>
<div>Jaarlijks krijgen bijna 600 kinderen in Nederland kanker. Inmiddels overleeft 81% van deze kinderen de eerste vijf jaar na de diagnose. Mede dankzij de onderzoeken die KiKa financiert. Want zo’n 20 jaar geleden lag dit nog rond de 72%. Een duidelijk bewijs dat onderzoek écht helpt en 100% kans op genezing steeds dichterbij komt.
