This GoFundMe page is for me, and a bucket-list dream that I've had for awhile--going back to school, in Scotland. The big news is that I've been accepted into the MLitt program in ethnomusicology and folklore at the Elphinstone Institute at the University of Aberdeen. This will be an amazing year of music and discovery for me as I explore Scotland and its culture, beginning in the Fall term, 2018. It's an adventure, and I need your help to get there.
I've saved much of the funds I'll need for tuition and housing, but there is still much to be earned. I will need some additional money to cover my travel and housing. I'd like to make three trips back to the US--one in October, one in December, and one in March to visit John, who will be holding down the fort in North Carolina. Each round trip is about $1200. My living expenses will be about $200 per week, living on campus.
I'd like to share my adventure with you. I'll be writing a blog as time allows, taking pictures, making recordings and videos. Part of the fun of an adventure is sharing it.
Asking for monetary help doesn't come easily to me. So I'd like to offer something in return to tell you how much your support means to me. One of my CDs or downloadable music of your choice (there are many recordings to choose from--Elftones and others) for a $50 contribution. I'll write a tune for you for a $100 contribution. Whatever you can give, no matter how big or small, it's appreciated beyond words!
