Maple’s ACL Surgery (Adopt Her)

Donation protected
Hello. I’ve never created my own Go Fund Me, but my dog needs help and I need your help to help her. About 3 years ago I took in Maple, a 5 year old lab mix, who was not able to stay in her current situation due to her issues with other pets in the house. In spite of extensive professional dog training, those owners had to rehome her and being single with no other pets, I took her in and was her only option at a new life as an only pet. Fast forward to about 3 years later and I’ve met the person who will be my spouse one day and they already have 2 pets of their own - a small dog, that provides support to my partner who is a military veteran with a military related disability, and an indoor cat. We are merging households on October 5th. After taking into account everyone’s wellbeing and much agony, we have determined the best solution is to find a home for Maple where she can be the only pet. We want a better life for her than to constantly be muzzled or in a crate to keep her from other animals who would also be constantly be experiencing high anxiety and be at risk. She has been a very loving companion to me and is a wonderful bed buddy for a human. I’ve been working on finding a new home for several months without success and then a couple of weeks ago her ACL tore, which obviously hurts her chances of adoption. This happened 2 days after me being released from Emory Hospital and having thousands of dollars in personal medical bills on top of the basic life expenses we all have. A few people have expressed interest in contributing to the surgery. The surgery is going to cost around $4,000 but I’m only asking for $3,000 and will personally cover anything in excess of that. Dr. Smith, the owner of Clairmont Animal Hospital, is going to attempt to do some things on his end to bring the cost as close to $3,000 as possible but that is the lowest it would be for the surgery itself. We honestly need the money raised very quickly - ideally in a week or two weeks tops so that the surgery can go ahead and happen and increase her adoptability. $3,000-$4,000 for a pet surgery is a lot of money for one person with their own medical bills that wasn’t expecting this. But maybe if whoever is able contributes $5 or $100, we can make it happen. All money will be used towards her surgery, her care, and getting her adopted. Please spread the word about her needing a home as I just need to find that person or couple that doesn’t have any other pets and is willing to be a 1-pet household. At least this way her physical health will be 100%!
