Mao Vang (Niam Zam Nplooj Thoj) was 81 years old when she was diagnosed with gastrointestinal perforation (a hole in her stomach toward the back of her spine) earlier this year. Vang did not want to undergo surgery but was advised by the medical team that she needed an emergency surgery to close the hole and treat the condition to prolong her life.
On Sunday, November 22, 2020, Vang decided to take her own life. Vang was an amazing mother, sister, grandmother, and friend loved by all. We need to continue to check on our loved ones, educate ourselves on warnings signs of suicide, and symptoms of depression.
We hope that no other families will have to suffer a tragedy as we did. All donations will go directly to the Thao family to help with funeral and memorial services. Thank you for your support and donations.
