Our beloved son, Manpreet Kanhaiya (Manny) passed away on 30 September, 2015 in the city of Lodz, Poland in mysterious circumstances. He was Notre Dame Catholic School, Brampton I.B. graduate and University of Waterloo (Ontario) student.

He was accepted in 1st Year of 5 year DMD program in the Medical University of Lodz. After helping him moving in brand new dormitory on 28 September, 2015 which opened to business on the same day, we (parents) left for Toronto via London. He was excellent communicator and as usual, he promised to be in touch with family. Before checking in at Warsaw airport for London flight, we exchanged texts. After arriving in London, we sent few text messages to him and those were never acknowledged. On 30 September, we contacted the property manager to find about his wellbeing. He told, "Manpreet accidently fell from his 4th floor room's window on 28-29 September night. There were no signs of blood and injury on his body." He refused to disclose any other information. Paramedics took him to the Kopernik Hospital where he breathed his last on 30 Sep, 2015.

Couple of hours before this terrible incident, Manpreet texted that he meditated, cleaned his room and sent a picture of his study table. He also mentioned that he has taken off his "Pug" (turban) and going to bed. He further texted, "My room is pretty zen. Meditate before workout Brazilian style" How the accident can happen if he was in the bed and in such a good state of mind?

Our family has devastated by this terrible tragedy and struggling to find the reality surrounding his death.

He was cremated on 17 October, 2015 in Brampton Crematorium and Visitation Centre, Brampton (Canada). Last prayer was held in Glidden Road Sikh Temple, Brampton on the same day.

Manpreet was a great student, friendly, humble and full of life. He left us with 22 years 7 months and 24 days worth of unforgettable memories. His untimely death is a great loss to our family, his friends and nation.

Comments from his high school teacher; "Our deepest condolences on the loss of your son/brother Manny. We remember Manny as an excellent student. He was excellent in many ways: very bright, good friend to his peers, and always extremely polite. We each had good conversations with Manny and he was most definitely an extremely caring and sincere young man - truly a class act. May the memories you have help you find peace at this time of sorrow and loss."

At present, investigation is ongoing in Poland which may take couple of months to complete.

Our family would like to thank Canadian Embassy in Warsaw to provide timely help and guidance. We would have to hire a good English speaking lawyer and an investigator from Poland for proper investigation to find the truth.

Our family has set up a fund raiser account to cover the legal fees/costs. We urge and appeal to everyone to donate for this cause and help the family in this difficult time.
