Butterfly Around Manhattan

Hello! I hope everyone is having a good summer!
Last summer I swam the Catalina Channel in the stroke of butterfly, and set a new world record for the fastest butterfly crossing. In addition to setting a record, I was able to raise funds for 3 homeless shelters, as well as pay for my pilot/boat/kayakers/transportation and it was all made possible by a GoFundMe page.

The fact that so many people supported my goal to complete the channel last year while supporting local charities reminded me that anything is possible, and that even if one does not have the means to complete a project, there is no shame in asking for help.
Right now I am asking for your help in my goal to complete the circumnavigation swim around Manhattan Island. The 28.5 mile lap around Manhattan will be done in the butterfly stroke. I am currently on a waiting list for this summer's September 8th swim and if a spot does not open up for this year, I am going to be registering this November 2017 for a slot in 2018.
I made this page in an attempt to cover the total cost of the swim, which includes a boat, a pilot, an official observer, kayak, and kayaker ($2500). I will be able to cover the airline travel cost, and the room/board cost.
The main goal of this swim is to support local charities. Although I am using this GoFundMe to fund my swim, I would like to fundraise for local charities after the swim funds are met.
I am constantly inspired by marathon swimmers around the world, and seek to follow their example in spreading faith and hope that anything is possible.
