Mama Giron's Transplant

Over the course of the past 5 months, our rock, heart & center of our family has fought the battle of her life. In early August, Dinora was diagnosed with AML Leukemia. Treatment began immediately as the cancer team deemed it necessary to be aggressive. She has been in the hospital for months at a time & received several rounds of chemotherapy. During treatment she has experienced adverse reactions to chemo & medications as well as transfusions she received. After weighing all her options, the medical team has decided that her best course of action is to recieve a bone marrow/stem cell transplant. Vanessa, her daughter, has been approved to be her donor. WHAT A BLESSING! We pray that the transplant will happen the second week of January. Her kids & Jose will all play integral parts of this process as the UCLA team has explained that the family faces a 8 week timeline, during which mom will be admitted for 4 weeks at UCLA. Following this Dinora is required to stay across the street at a hotel where she is accessible to medical care at all times & will need a family member to be with her at all times also. This means 4 weeks in a hotel, food, gas & co-pays as this is not covered by insurance. Up until now, our parents have maintained their faith strong & have not needed for anything. GOD IS IN CONTROL but with this transplant looming it feels like the time has come to allow all of those loving friends that have asked how they can help to participate in this leg of the journey.
