Lourdes' Journey

Hello all! We created this page for our mom, Maria Lourdes Gomez. She was recently diagnosed with an enhancing malignant (cancerous) tumor on her right kidney that needs to be operated on as soon as possible. A second and third smaller tumors were also found, but we have not discussed those further as the main one on the kidney is the worst one at the moment. This diagnosis and course of treatment is not something that can be handled out of her home town of Laredo, TX. She was referred to Urology and Oncology specialists based 3 hours away in San Antonio and was told to prepare for a rough road and recovery ahead. The date of the operation/surgery is set for October. As of now, we don't have all the details, the operation could be just the tumor removal, followed by treatment to make sure cancer hasn't and will not spread OR she may need her whole kidney removed because of the placement of the tumor. We are currently waiting for the next appointment which will decide the further tests needed and final course of treatment.  

If you are reading this you must know or be connected to my mom somehow in one way or another. A dedicated worker, a religious church go-er; she has selflessly spent most of her adult/mom life caring for her loved ones before herself. She is humble, kind and enjoys life as it comes day by day. Unfortunately she is not in the position to flip the bill for surgical deductibles and expenses for the upcoming doctors visits, lodging, meals, copays and such. We are reaching out to you today for help, any little bit counts and will be strictly used for her upcoming journey and any expenses, like bills, incurred during her time needed off of work for recovery.
