Mallory Covert Fund

Capital nursing students,

I’m writing to inform you that a fellow Capital nursing student, Mallory Covert, has recently experienced substantial personal hardship that has forced her to seek refuge in a domestic abuse shelter with her daughter and to take a leave of absence her senior year. In addition, the pandemic has resulted in Mallory being forced to cut back her work hours in order to meet the educational needs of her daughter. These events have led to personal and financial instability, and now the shelter is her only housing option. As nursing students, we have learned the importance of altruism and compassion when treating our patients; I believe it is our responsibility to now lead by example and apply these ideals to one of our own. We are a community, and we must look out for each other. With her permission, I have started a GoFundMe for Mallory and her daughter to help them get back on their feet. Please donate what you can—anything helps. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
Travis Jones
