Umoza Fund: Malawi Education Fund

Donation protected
Please help me raise money to provide high school and college educations to the children of Kalowa Village, Malawi.  I recently visited my friend Torey who was born and raised in Cohasset, Massachusetts but has been living in Africa for over two years teaching high school biology.  Kalowa is a small village located on Lake Malawi, in the northern region of the country.  Torey has contributed extensive time and money to these students, however there is more work to be done.  Although her former students place competitively for college enrollment both locally and internationally, many can not even complete high school due to the financial, family, and medical issues resulting from being raised in extreme poverty.  A high school education in a Malawian village costs only $10 a semester and a semester of college in Malawi costs only $200 plus British equivalency exams so any contribution will make a difference.  Having lived in Kalowa for the past two and a half years, Torey knows how best to distribute your donations to the children and schools in such a way as to maximize the benefits and create a lasting impact on the children and their community.  All contributions are greatly appreciated!

The fundraiser is named the Umoza Fund after Torey’s dog who recently passed away tragically at two and a half years old.  Umoza means “united” in Chitonga which is the language spoken in Kolowa Village.
