As some people may have seen on the news, on 12/21/2020 an absolute tragedy happened in our own community.
In the early hours of 12/21/2020, a mother was lying in bed with her two sons ages 3 and 5 when their lives got changed forever, specifically Malakai’s, who is 5 years old. Several bullets began to rip and tear through their home, leaving Malakai’s mother instantly scrambling to protect her two sons. Ultimately, Malakai’s mother sustained a gunshot wound trying to protect her boys as gunshots were continuing to be fired into her home. To make matters worse, as the gunshots finally stopped, Malakai’s mom discovered Malakai in a pool of blood and suffering from a gunshot wound to his head. The bullet missed Malakai’s brain by 2 cm, leaving him suffering from several fractures in his skull, as well as leaving Malakai permanently blind in both eyes. If that isn't enough, Malakai has possibly lost his ability to taste anything as well. An innocent, 5 year old boy who loves all things Roblox, playing video games and watching YouTube, and playing with Transformers, was woken up from his sleep 4 days before Christmas not being able to see or taste for the rest of his life.
Since the incident, Malakai has had several visits to the hospital for surgeries and visits with neurosurgeons, and is now home with his mother and brother trying to adjust to his unfair new life, awaiting endless more hospital visits. Hospital bills will soon be piling up and this family will need as much financial help as we can provide.
Let’s come together and wrap our arms around this sweet boy and his family. Let’s show them that we will join together as a community to help those in tragedy, in their worst moment of crisis. No amount you give is too small! This family desperately needs our help!
