Mara Windstar is an amazing person who does incredible things for others, even though she deals with things most of us would find unthinkable. Despite being in a wheelchair, having a trach tube to breath, and dealing with seizure disorder and other medical issues, Mara never lets that prevent her from helping other people with disabilities and inspiring the pants off the rest of us. A talented dog trainer, she teaches her furry friends to help out their pet parents with disabilities. She eats a plant-based diet and took off over 150 lbs, all while being in a wheelchair! She truly inspires us every day.
Mara lives on a very modest income, and after just paying rent alone, she has less than $150 to live on for all her other expenses each month. It is amazing that she can do this at all! But on top of that, Mara has some expenses that the rest of us don't, like needing an expensive kind of trach tube that isn't covered by insurance. Despite her circumstances, Mara would NEVER ask for any financial help, and we had to talk her into letting us do this for her. But trust me, she is an incredible human and no one deserves it more!
Mara uses an Ipad to arrange medical appointments and connect to her plant-based friends and community. Recently, the screen broke, and there is just no money to get that fixed. Money raised would help with that, her expensive medical supplies (not covered by insurance!) and whatever else Mara needs as far as clothes, food, and utility bills. Anything you can contribute would be so incredibly appreciated. Let's make Christmas great for Mara and her service dog Dixie!
