Help support Lauren and Alex through treatment!

UPDATE 29/12/2020 Thank you so much to everyone who has donated money and gifts for Alex and Lauren! Your generosity, during a time when Covid has left so many families without their normal income, has been so generous and has blown us (Lauren’s friends) and her parents completely away! This page initially started with a target of £1000 so we could cover all the costs of a magical Christmas for Lauren and Alex. Within 24 hours this target was smashed and offers of toys for Alex came flooding in! (Meaning any monies raised could go directly to Lauren to help cover her financially during her treatment, as she will not be able to work)many people have requested that this page stays open, so they have a way to donate to Lauren throughout the year! Let’s face it cancer doesn’t get packed away with the decorations and her need of support won’t just stop their either. So at present the plan is to keep this page active indefinitely! A big thank you has to go out to Thriving Life Church in Newtownards, who not only donated toys but also donated a 40’ brand new flat screen tv (Lauren’s had broken a day or two before she was admitted to hospital, her pastor was made aware of this and went straight out and purchased a new one so Alex could have something to watch his favourite programs on!).... also to Bangor Storehouse and good bank who donated the go kart but when their manager Ken found out about Lauren’s story, he opened his wallet and handed me £60 to pass on to Lauren to buy her whatever she needed. To the Kirk family who donated the lovely handmade mud kitchen for Alex... it was the main thing he asked Santa for and within a few hours of the plea being up they contacted me to say they would not only make it but supply all the utensils. It turned out beautifully and Alex can’t wait to make his first mud pie!!! And to all the other offers of gifts and support thank you so much!!! Every single one of them no matter how big or small was gratefully appreciated!! The biggest thank you has to go to the staff of ward 6C in the Ulster hospital. To say you are her guardian angels is an understatement!!! You kept her strength and determination to get home to Alex going! In a time when Covid restricted us from being with Lauren to comfort her, you guys became her shoulder to cry on as well. For that we (Lauren’s friends) can never thank you enough! And finally LAUREN, YOU ARE AMAZING! YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL AND YOU ARE A FANTASTIC MUM TO ALEX. Thank you for letting us be a part of your life and for always being there for us! For your friendship I will always be eternally grateful! Please share this page and Lauren’s ‘together for Lauren Marrs’ page on Facebook and on any other social media platforms you may have! Lauren’s biggest wish is to raise awareness that this type of cancer isn’t biased of age and can affect younger girls (and guys!) as well!! ************************************************ After a long 2020, The holiday season is finally here! I love Christmas, but it's sometimes too easy to get lost in the hustle and bustle of it. My idea of Christmas Spirit, is simple: loving others and making memories.. there’s a boy from Bangor Co Down who needs some Christmas Spirit to make this Christmas special. His name is Alex and just like many four year olds... He’s excited! He loves Christmas! The thing is, Alex’s mum is in hospital and is extremely poorly. When Lauren was six months pregnant she was diagnosed with breast cancer. At only 25 years old she faced gruelling treatment for cancer at a time when she should have been enjoying being a new mum to her beautiful baby boy!
The treatment was initially successful, however the Cancer came back in her bones. Lauren fights with everything she has, all while trying to keep a sense of normality for Alex. Lauren has been in hospital, in a lot of pain, for some time. On a recent CT scan three new tumours were found on her spine.
With Christmas around the corner a few of Lauren’s friends and I thought it would be lovely if we could fundraise to help ease financial stress and make this Christmas a really special one for a little boy who really deserves it! I understand that this year, things are financially hard for a lot of families but if you are able to spare anything at all, the amount adds up! Please help make this Christmas one to remember for Lauren and Alex!
