Makenzie's Stroke Recovery
Donation protected
We are still unsure as to what caused this sweet girl to have a stroke. We are unsure of how long her recovery will take, or all that it will entail. But we are sure that she will recover beautifully. And we are sure that the outpouring of love and support has held up her parents through the hardest moment of their lives. They have not asked for our monetary support, but it's a small way we can show that we are thinking of them and we care.
While at swim practice Monday evening, 10 year old Makenzie had a stroke. The right side of her body was paralyzed, and her swim coach saw that she needed help. Makenzie was rushed to Frye, where test showed that she needed greater support. She was tranported by ambulance to Wake Forest Medical Center in Winston Salem. Over the next 24 hours, doctors confirmed that she had experienced a stroke. After 3 days in Intensive Care, Makenzie's medical team decided to send her to Levine's Childrens Hospital in Charlotte for their renowned therapy program.
As they took Makenzie into Levine's, doctors and nurses lined the halls to cheer and welcome her to their center. Kelia and Jody feel blessed to have her in such wonderful care.
Therapy has begun. Kelia and Jody know they have a long road ahead of them, but they are ready and willing to do anything they need to help Makenzie. Let's help them cover the cost of food, a place to stay, the various expenses that are going to arise as they stay in Charlotte with their sweet girl.
