Inuk artist Billy Gauthier has not eaten in a week. He and two others are on a hunger strike to protest against the flooding of the Muskrat Falls reservoir without removing the organic material. If organic material is not removed, there will be a spike in methylmercury in the river and Lake Melville, contaminating the birds, fish, seals and other wildlife that Labradorians rely on for food.
This GoFundMe account is to bring Billy and the hunger strikers, Delilah and Jerry to Ottawa to speak to parliament about their grave concern for their home. The money will be used to help them while they are in Ottawa (along with a support person). Any additional funds will be used to help provide supplies at the Muskrat protest camp.

Billy has committed to this hunger strike until the Nalcor publically agrees to clear all vegetation in the reservoir area, he says that he is willing to give up his life for the place he loves.http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/newfoundland-labrador/inuk-artist-hunger-strike-nalcor-1.3804721
