Make JoHanna a Minister

Greetings!

I am currently in my fourth year of part-time seminary studies and it is time for me to engage in Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE).

I started at Iliff School of Theology in 2013 as a full-time residential student, then transferred to Luther Seminary's Distributed Learning Program in 2015. I travel to campus in Minnesota twice a year and do coursework online throughout the fall and winter semesters. This format has allowed me to continue working as a Children and Family Ministries Coordinator at St. Philip Lutheran in LIttleton while I study!

In July of 2016, Lydia joined our family. We have been fortunate enough to be able to arrange to our work schedules so that one of us can be home with her most days. Our church's early learning center and family members have also helped us out immensely on days we both need to be at our places of employment. This January, however, our schedules will change.

In January 2018, my studies continue as a CPE intern at Littleton Adventist Hospital in Littleton, CO. For four months, I will be part of the spiritual care team at the hospital. I will learn about forming healing relationships, reflect on my role as a spiritual leader, and offer spiritual care to patients, their families, and hospital staff. This will be done within the context of a supervised and religiously-diverse peer group. CPE is required work for both my Master of Divinity (through Luther Seminary) and ordination as a pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. I am so excited to be at this point in my call journey and am looking forward to all I will learn in CPE.

My CPE site requires 28 hours per week for 16 weeks. As an intern, I will not be compensated for my time; in fact, I will pay $1250 to participate in CPE. The time required for CPE plus my continued part-time ministry at St. Philip requires that we find more regular childcare  four days a week at minimum. Paying for this childcare is a burden on our already tight budget.

Your financial support through this campaign will greatly help my family. Your gifts will enable me to pay for this part of my education without accruing more student debt. Your contributions will relieve my family from the stress of an added financial burden. And, your support will encourage me in my pursuit of my call to ordained ministry.

For your contribution of any amount, you will receive my deepest gratitude as well as a handwritten note.

 WithThanksgiving,

 JoHanna
