Anyone who really knows me, knows I am stubborn as hell, I don’t give up, & I won’t go down without one hell of a fight. With that stage set, I am about to go out swinging while I set my ego aside and play the very last card in the deck.
Anyone who has ever been on the receiving end of one of my unwarranted sermons knows, I don’t allow the phrase, “I can’t”. There is always a way, you just haven’t figured it out yet and/or are unwilling to do what it takes. It’s not a lack of resources but a lack of resourcefulness that seperate can from can’t.
It is in that spirit I take my own advice, I grit my teeth, and put some of my most personal info out here in an attempt to lasso the moon for my daughter.
Here it goes-
An extraordinary opportunity has presented itself to my daughter; an opportunity in which she has worked very hard for. This opportunity is way above anything I ever had the capability to dream a reality for any child of mine. My daughter, Sicilia Maria, is 13 years old and will be entering the 8th grade in the 2018-2019 upcoming school year. She has worked very hard to be in honors classes, has gotten accepted into the academy at her current public school, is currently taking high school classes, and now has been accepted into an elite local private school- which is exactly where she wants to be.
Sicilia has been granted a considerable sized scholarship to attend this school- which I am eternally grateful for. The one hiccup is that I can not match the current figure for the 2018-2019 school year. Yes, the figure is high. Yes, I do understand math. It takes every ounce of being in me to publicly announce- I need help reaching this figure. I only need to reach it once.
I have done financial gymnastics to make arrangements, along with a second job, to meet the financial requirements for the future high school years with the assistance of projected scholarships she has been awarded. I can meet those financial demands and have plans to do so.
I am hesitant to name the specific school on here because I don’t want to tarnish her reputation at this school. Feel free to privately message me for any further details or information at all.
If you or anyone you know would like to contribute to make this dream a reality, please donate through the attached link. In the worst case that the attached figure isn’t reached I am going to put the money into an account for college for her so it will benefit her educational journey.
My deadline to reach the attached figure and sign a contract with the school is 4/9/18. I am asking that if you can and would like to change the trajectory of my little girl’s life and help her actively chase her dreams please contribute what you can and I will be eternally grateful to you for your generosity.
I wish I could find a more articulate way to state these basic facts but this is the best I can muster at the current moment. I understand just how very tacky this looks but please understand I have exhausted all other efforts and she deserves to be able to move forward with this tremendous opportunity that has been afforded to her.
I can feel the eyes rolling reading this because I know, without a doubt, we ALL want the best for our kids. I know everyone is trying their best to make ends meet and dreams happen for their own children and I apologize for seeming insensitive at all to that fact.
Know that Sicilia Maria has and will continue to be raised to recognize when people need help and to offer assistance whenever and however she can in that particular moment. Please know that if given this opportunity, she will not take it for granted, and one day, when she is in a position to offer support that otherwise wouldn’t be available KNOW she will pay it forward the rest of her life as will I. The only way to truly rise is by lifting others.
This opportunity won't present itself twice for my daughter. She is very fortunate to be extended such a tremendous opportunity currently.
