In the process of organizing/purging to move into a tiny house, I discovered that I have some old 8mm video tapes of Vintage stuff of interest to SF Bay Area dance and pagan folks. I have video of Terry O'Neil teaching Irish Dance (in my basement at the time specifically for purposes of posterity). I also have some video of a Celtic and Norse Reconstructionist Panel Pantheacon in 1998, as well as Sharon Devlin (audio only but on 8mm video tape) and Erynn & Lorax Laurie. I also have the original tape of the Aural Sects concert that year.
I would love to make all these available to the wider community (I'd like to see them again myself, too!) but I no longer have the camcorder that played that format of tape. My options are to send them off to a transfer service for ~$20/tape, or to buy a used camcorder that plays them and transfer them to a digital format myself. There's one such camcorder on Amazon today for under $200. I don't know if posting to YouTube would be legit or not under copyright or whatever, but I'm pretty sure it would be "fair use" for me to share the digital video with anyone who helps out.
I can't make any promises as to the quality of anything--especially as the tapes have been in storage for 20+ years--but aren't you curious, too?
I have 6-7 tapes of community interest. They are:
-Terry O'Neil teaching Irish Dancing
From 1998 Pantheacon :
-Aural Sects concert
-Reconstructionist Pannel - 2 tapes
-Erynn & Lorax Laurie "Creating Filideacht"
-Sharon Devlin-Folsom "Celtic World View" (audio only but on 8mm video tape)
I also have a tape of the "Dance Macabre" at Renn Faire from around that time, as well as an unlabeled "mystery tape" that may or may not have anything interesting on it.
P.S. I'd be happy to donate the camcorder & original tapes to the Bay Area Pagan Library when I've transferred them all.
