Make Their Summer Gold!

If you're reading this, we already love you.

Thank you so much for taking the time to consider a contribution to our cause. Your support means the world to us and to the camp that we love.

A little bit about how we got here, what we're doing, and how you can help:

It all starts in the summer of 2006...

For reasons very near and dear to their hearts (chicks mostly) - high school Max Sorenson and Robb Valentyn decided to take a week of their summers to volunteer at Muscular Dystrophy Association Summer Camp in Green Lake, Wisconsin. 12 years later the two could never have imagined the impact the kids who attend that camp would have on the trajectory of their lives.

They've attended camp every summer since in roles ranging from Counselor, to Arts and Crafts Director, to Sports and Recreation Director, to the present day as Volunteer Camp Assistants helping to plan and organize this incredible camp. In addition to that, the two have broadened their reach within the MDA community by joining Team Momentum - MDA's Endurance Training Fundraising Program - and have collectively run 4 half-marathons and 3 full-marathons. And with the help of such gracious people as yourselves, these efforts have resulted in upwards of $30,000 in fundraising for the MDA.

Which brings us to the present day...

Although our camp receives an amazing amount of support which we're so incredibly grateful for, our mission is to make this camp the absolute best it can be for these kids. We want nothing more than for the kids to see beyond the constraints of these horrible diseases. To know that they are defined by so much MORE than just a disease.

And with financial support, we are absolutely able to do this. We're able to purchase supplies for adaptive activities such as arts and crafts, sports and recreation, archery, and fishing. We're able to book musicians to perform at camp. We're able to rent out equipment for specialized activities. We're able to bring in beauty supplies and outfits so the girls get to feel like princesses at the end of the week dance. We're also able to provide the boys (and girls) with all the pizza and candy they can eat at said dance. Because what's a summer camp without a sugar rush before bed?

The point is - we can do so so much with your help. So we've decided to go big this year in hopes that you will too.

Along with our good friends Adam Scanlan and Rees Grant - who are doing this simply because they're amazing people and total hunks - we are competing in Ironman Wisconsin on September 9, 2018. Which means in a 17 hour window, we'll be swimming 2.4 miles in Lake Monona, biking 112 miles around the outskirts of Madison, and running 26.2 miles through the city before finding a nice clean spot of pavement to call home for the proceeding 48-72 hours.

Our mission between now and then is simple: We want to fundraise as much as possible so that we can put those funds toward providing these kids with the best experiences of their entire lives. We want to make their summer gold.

And that's where you come in...

Any and all financial support you can provide between now and September 9th is so greatly appreciated. It's difficult to put into words how much your previous support has meant (and will continue to mean) to us and to this camp. But know that your time and energy are perhaps even more significant donations. If you're not in a position to contribute but would like to learn more about how you can help - please, please, PLEASE reach out. There are so many opportunities to assist this incredible cause and we'd love to have you.

Thank you all so very much and we'll see you at the finish line!!
