As many of you may know, my beautiful mother has been fighting with various diseases for a very long time. When I was younger (around 9 years old), she got diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis, which is a type of inflammatory arthritis that affects the spine and other large joints. It progressively got worse and about 7 years ago, my mom became bedridden. Meaning since then, she could no longer walk. The disease has only gotten worse since that point, causing her to experience more problems. Such as jaw problems and eventually becoming blind in one eye. She was also diagnosed with osteoarthritis, which is a type of arthritis when flexible tissue at the ends of bones wear down. Due to her not being able to walk or properly utilize her knees and other joints, her knees do not bend at all. Due to the severity of her diseases, she eventually got a dislocated hip while in a nursing home for rehabilitation, because of how fragile her joints and muscles are. She also has Swanson's Disease and rheumatoid arthritis, which has caused the joints in her hands and wrists to deform. Because of how sick she has been, and because of how long she has fought and will continue to fight, she has subsequently gotten diagnosed with more and more problems. She also has autoimmune disease, which means that she cannot fight off infections. Last month, she was diagnosed with MDS, which is a form of blood cancer. It cannot be cured in her case because her bone marrow is not strong enough, and she would not make it through the surgery. She has been to many doctors and many hospitals over the years, and has been seen recently mostly for MDS. She has been told by multiple doctors that she has 6 months - 1 year to live. It is really heartbreaking to me because I love my mom and she has fought for so long only to be presented with more and more bad news and she is only 40 years old. We spent christmas at the hospital, and she has been there ever since. I would like to raise money for her to be able to buy a specially designed wheelchair, so she can go outside and do other activities. Due to the fact that her legs do not bend, she can’t use a normal wheelchair. She has spent the past 7 years in bed, and in the hospital. Since her recent cancer diagnosis, she has been in the hospital most days… more often than usual… Hearing that my mom only has a short period of time to live really scares me, because I know I do not have the financial means to give her everything she deserves. I would really like to make that time count for her, because she has fought for so long. Please consider donating, she is the strongest woman that I know. Any amount helps.
