Make Cattlemens Days 2020 Happen

Donation protected

WE DID IT! Or should we say YOU did it. Let's get ready to rodeo!

UPDATE!!!!!  We have been approved for 350 fans per night.  EVERY single donor, no matter the size of contribution gets 2 tickets to the rodeo!!!!  Look for an email from Cattlemen's days or Go fund me on details on how to get your tickets if you donated.

With the variance in hand, Cattlemen’s Days 2020 is being planned for Sept. 3-5, but we need help to put this thing on over Labor Day weekend. This is our 120th consecutive year, and we are the oldest continuous rodeo and fourth-oldest Pro Rodeo in the country.

Cattlemen’s Days has persevered through two world wars, the Great Depression and the 1918 Flu Pandemic, and we are eager to outlast COVID, too. We are committed to making this 120-year-old Gunnison, Colorado, tradition continue, but we must raise at least $150,000 to make it happen. The plan for now is to have a fan-less rodeo but are working with The Cowboy Channel to have it air nationally.

We want to put Gunnison on national TV.

With great support locally, we realize we will still need to make up for dollars usually raised through fan admission and interaction. We’d like the rodeo community to help support the sport and our local tradition. We have until Aug. 10 to raise the funds.

We hope that by mid-August, we will be able to submit a variance request to allow for limited attendance. If possible, tickets will be distributed in a lottery format; for every $150 Cowboy Sponsorship, one entry will be made into the lottery, with the successful picks receiving two tickets to the rodeo.

All funds raised through the GoFundMe campaign will be used to support the 2020 contestants; none will be retained by Cattlemen’s Days.   Everything we raise will be used for this year's rodeo, the athletes, the prize money, the announcers,  the security, the entertainers....these are needs we have every year, but do not have the income for this year.  We have a dedicated Cattlemen's Days committee bank account for this fund.

Advertising sponsorships are available as well.  Please contact Cattlemen’s Days directly if you’d like to pursue that route. This will be fabulous advertising for our valley.  The Cowboy Channels has offered a ticker to run at the bottom of their screen to advertise our sponsors. Donations can also be made by check to Cattlemen’s Days 2020, P.O. Box 1203, Gunnison, CO 81230 but must be received by Aug.  10.

Your support is greatly appreciated by the Cattlemen’s Days committee

P.S.: The total amount asked of the GoFundMe page will continue to drop with the addition of local sponsorships. We are so grateful for their contributions: Western Lumber, $10,000; Napa Laudick Auto Parts, $2,500; Internet Colorado $1,500; Gunnison Fiber Mesh Network, $1,500; Red Mountain Liquors, $1,000; Turquoise Junction, $1,750..
