Make An Impact: Plant Trees in the Amazon

I am raising money for IDESAM, an NGO planting trees with communities in the Brazilian Amazon as a sustainable alternative to deforestation. I aim to raise £10,000 over the next months to plant trees, before the rainy season in January.

This would go into planting ~870 trees, helping families diversify their production with an alternative income and benefitting the environment through regenerating 10,000 m2 of degraded land, removing 300 tons of CO2 in the atmosphere (the equivalent of 50 cars per year) and helping preserve 4000 km2 of rainforest in the Uatumã sustainable development reserve (SDR).

This summer I got to see their work in practice. By planting trees and recuperating soils, educating and empowering communities to improve their forestry practices, IDESAM is helping the Uatumã reserve develop holistically and sustainably, in a way which values not only profits but the conservation of the rainforest.
