Makayla's New Wheelchair

Makayla is a thirteen year-old girl living on a homestead in south Mississippi. She has a genetic condition called Ehlers-Danlos. Because of this, her joints can dislocate as often as twenty times in a day and she is ALWAYS in pain. Some days she never leaves her bed. Other days, she uses a wheelchair to get around. We live on a farm with so much to do and enjoy, but she misses out on these things due to the limits of her body and ALL current wheelchair technology.
However, now there is a chance that her life could change for the better thanks to a new wheelchair from OGO TECHNOLOGIES. It can go over exposed roots and up and down hills. It can even roll on a beach--somewhere Makayla has never been because conventional wheelchairs don't work in sand. The pull of the sand on her legs is enough to cause her joints to dislocate so walking, even a short distance, is not an option on a beach. The Ogo is light and small enough to be loaded into everyday vehicles without the necessity of expensive chairlifts. The OGO has a self-balancing Segway base, is hands free, and acts as a therapy device, gently strengthening her core muscles as she uses it.
Makayla wants to help on our farm with the goats, chickens, and garden and explore the farm as her siblings do. As homesteaders/farmers we like being self-sufficient. Asking for help is not natural to us. But Makayla begged us to do this GoFundMe page. She explained how an Ogo could drastically better her life. So here we are.
