Hi Everybody,
My name is Makayla Lynn.
I am a young country music artist from Nova Scotia, Canada and I am so excited to be ready to start work on my next studio album in Nashville, TN. Before I tell you all about that, let me tell you a bit about my story...
I have been blessed in life to have family and friends that love me and are my biggest cheerleaders. They have helped me get to where I am now!
I began singing, playing piano and guitar, and performing at shows when I was just 8 years old. I am one of those lucky people who have known from a very young age, exactly what I wanted to be in life!
Over the years I have made a few trips to Nashville, falling a little more in love with Music City every time. In 2012 I was even fortunate enough to record a 7 song album in Nashville, an experience that helped shape the next few years. My album "Daydream" went on to be nominated for East Coast Music Association's Country Recording of the Year, Rising Star Recording of the Year, Music Nova Scotia's Country Recording of the Year and International Music and Entertainment Association's Country Recording of the year.
Now back to the reason for this campaign and the next HUGE steps for me and my future...
Well, like everyone, I’ve gotten older and my dreams have gotten bigger. With your help I am hoping to return to Nashville in September to record a new album.
Album #2 is so incredibly important to an up and coming artist like myself for many reasons. 1) As an independent artist, radio airplay is really hard to get! Having a high quality album will continue to allow me to break through the barriers and get my music on your radios. 2) Good music leads to great opportunities! I am eager to continue to play showcases, festivals and venues but to do so I need some new music to keep everyone interested and excited. 3) Album nominations turn heads! My goal for this album is to help me continue to propel forward in the country music industry and a high quality recording of my songs that get nominated by juries of industry people, will help create relationships in Nashville and here at home that are essential to my future. 4) I have SO MUCH MUSIC inside me!!! My brain is overflowing with songs, lyrics, melodies and it all just needs to come out! I work so hard every single day creating the music and I want it to be presented to you in the very best way possible!!
About the album....
Smith Curry co-produced my last album and is an incredible human being! He also happens to have played with Taylor Swift, Kid Rock and a few other awesome people. Flip over many of your favourite country albums and there’s Smith’s name ! With your help, Smith and I are teaming up to do it all again. It isn’t going to be easy, but I know I have the greatest family, friends and fans in the world and together I think we can make anything happen.
This is one of my favourite quotes “Shoot for the Moon, even if you miss you will land among the stars”. Well I think that certainly applies here.
Plans are in place to record a 5 song EP of all new music BUT with your help, my goal is to be able to turn that EP into a full length album. I know some of you may be thinking “What? 15,000 dollars?” but let me tell you, travelling back and forth from Nova Scotia to Nashville isn’t cheap.
With your donation and pre-purchase of the project, my promise to you, is that if I am able to raise at least half by July 5th, I will give you an amazing 5 song EP. Fully produced, recorded in some of the best studios in Nashville, co-written with some amazing hit writers, with some of the most incredible A-list musicians and mastered for radio. That is the very least you will receive for your money. I also promise all of this to you in 2016. And don’t worry, if I am not able to deliver this you will receive 100% of your money back. That's my promise!!
BUT what I really want to give you, is 10 tracks. Remember earlier how we talked about my brain overflowing with music? Although I would be completely and forever grateful for your help in funding an EP, my heart and my mind would love to be able to share so much more with you!
