MaKala's Modeling Journey to London

Hello, my name is MaKala Williams, and I am raising money to help me pursue my career in modeling. At 17 years old, I have been blessed with a great opportunity to go to London and participate in SMGlobal Catwalk Fashion Revolution London, Fashion Show on August 19, 2017 at Chelsea Football Club Stadium. It is an extreme honor to be selected to go to London at my age.
I began modeling at 15 years old and have grown so much from working and being mentored by a lot of wonderful people. Modeling has helped me tremendously with my confidence, self-esteem, and has helped me with accepting ME for ME. I suffered from being bullied, made to feel uncomfortable due to my height (I’m 6’0”), and disliked for no reason but being different. Yes, I was that awkward kid that was taller than 90 percent of boys in my school. Was told, “Yeah, you’re cute but you are too tall.” Modeling saved me. Modeling can help build your self-esteem and confidence. When I am on the runway I become a totally different person, more confident, happier to be around others that are just as tall and have similar stories like mine. It is an amazing feeling when people want to purchase clothes that you have walked in. This makes me feel good because I know I am doing a wonderful job helping to sell a designer creation.
With modeling I want to help other people find their confidence and embrace what separates them from others. Not just being taller than others but the numerous things people find a reason to bully other people about.
My family has been extremely supportive and has helped me to be able to walk in various fashion shows in South Carolina, North Carolina, Washington D.C., and New York.
I am currently working to help with my expenses to go to London but I would be greatly appreciative with any donations that I receive. Did you know London is 3,878 miles; to get there I will travel a total of 18 hours. Your donation will help cover airfare, hotel, food and expenses getting me to London.
