Maisie's Road to Recovery

Donation protected
Everyone always talks about how life is so unpredictable. These days especially, something awful happens on a seemingly daily basis, and we find ourselves thinking how lucky we are that all of our loved ones are safe and sound.

Unfortunately, this Tuesday morning, we weren't so lucky. While she was on her way to work, our sweet Maisie was involved in a serious car accident. Another car clipped her while changing lanes, causing her car to spin out into the express lane where she got t-boned. Very, very unlucky.

Anyone who knows Maisie knows one thing for sure: our girl is STRONG. So kind, caring, gentle; incredible sense of humor, amazing awareness of the world around her - but more than anything, stronger than anyone I know. One of the best things about being loved by Maisie is the fact that no matter what, she will always have your back and fight for what's right. Now, it's time for us to have hers.

Maisie is currently in the ICU at Dell Seton UT in Downtown Austin suffering brain, pelvic, and spinal injuries. She wasted no time showing her doctors just how powerful she is by making leaps and bounds in the right direction within the first 24 hours alone. The prognosis is good - but there is a very long road ahead.

In a recent email chain about staying positive throughout everything going on in the world, Maisie sent this:

"I don't typically turn to poems/prayers, but instead Beyonce. And the wise words of Tina Knowles at the end of "Ring Off" are encouraging as hell:
"If you're going through it, just know it's called 'going THROUGH' it. You're not gonna get stuck there. You're gonna survive." "

So, so true, Mais. You're going through it now, but you're far from stuck.

She will be in the hospital for the foreseeable future followed by more than a year of neurology and therapy, and as you can imagine, this comes at a cost. If you're able, turn on some Beyonce, make a donation, and spread the word so that we can help ease the financial burden that will come along with getting Maisie back to being the best daughter, sister, and friend we love so much.

WE'VE GOT THIS!
