Maintenance of schools in Gidan Woreda

There are two schools in Gidan Woreda - North Wollo Zone - near to and in the rural village of Birginet, one that provides education for students from the 1st to the 8th grade and the other from the 1st to the 5th grade. These two schools are the sole providers of primary education to the children of more than 10 rural kebeles. However, both schools are in dire need of immediate material assistance.

The school that teaches up to the 8th grade is located in a small town called Wendach, about 2 hours and 30 minutes walking distance from Birginet and its surrounding rural kebeles. This school needs material assistance such as notebooks, chalk, pens and the like.

The school that teaches up to the 5th grade, Birginet Primary School, is located on the mountain of Bucho Mechawecha and is fairly close for students of the deep rural areas of the woreda. It currently provides sole education for children of families in the region. 

However, this particular school is at risk of getting shut down by authorities because of how poorly it is maintained. The classrooms need absolute reconstruction.

I have set up this GoFundMe page to collect money that will mainly go into the reconstruction of the Birginet Primary School. Part of it will also be used to provide teaching/learning equipment for students and teachers alike. This way, we ensure that this school continues providing education showing sufficient evidence that it is wholly functional to stop the authorities or any agent from closing it down. Finally, the rest of the money collected will help provide learning equipment for the Wendach school.
