Maintain AEPi of Syracuse, New York

On February 16th, 2018, the Sigma Deuteron chapter of the Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity was suspended for 3 1/2 years at Syracuse University for reasons with which we disagree.  Nonetheless, as a consequence of the University’s action, we find ourselves on the precipice of losing our home.  Thus, we are appealing to all friends, families, alumni and supporters to assist us in ensuring that our home stays in the “AEPi” family during the pendency of the University’s suspension, and beyond.

All donations from the GoFundMe will go directly to paying the rent of our house for the upcoming year, bridging the gap between the money that we need for next year’s rent and the money that we currently have. At Syracuse, students are required to live in on-campus housing for their first two years, barring a Greek Exemption, which allows students to live in whichever Greek Organization they are apart of as sophomores.  Given our recent suspension, our rising sophomores will not be granted the Greek Exemption for the upcoming year, putting our house in a difficult situation.

Our current sophomores (next year’s juniors) all signed binding apartment leases prior to our suspension, and are therefore unable to live in the house next year. This forces our upcoming sophomores to pay for mandatory on-campus housing AND their share of the house lease. Consequently, brothers who are trying to live in the house next year face a steep financial burden that, if not paid, will lead to us losing our home. Without an actual chapter house, the legacy and future of our fraternity will be in peril - something we are doing everything in our power to prevent.

To all the family, friends, alumni and everyone else who is generous enough to donate, we would not be asking for your assistance if we didn’t absolutely need it.  Please help us preserve the legacy and the future of AEPi.
