Fatal Accident -Maine Logger - Marc D. Calcia

Donation protected
He was late for dinner.  My brother, Marc D. Calcia, was out doing what he always did.. providing for his family by cutting wood as a logger.  In Maine, he said "there are only two seasons.. winter.. and preparing for winter"  When he didn't return home by dinner time, as promised in his last phone call, his frantic wife called police, and a search led to the tragic discovery of a tree fall, that took his life.

A  father of 6, with 2 young children still at home, Sage (11) and Sophie (10), I was always charmed by watching him teach them the skills of surviving life on the rocky coast of Maine.  He was incredibly invested in molding them into well rounded people, and he was so incredibly good at it.  His influence on them is going to be sorely missed, and my heart breaks for their loss.

This leaves his wife Pam, trying to pick up the pieces while raising her children on her own.  For as hard as Marc worked (few I've met ever worked harder or longer hours!) , financial comfort was always out of grasp.  Things like funeral expenses are not readily available, and death in this sudden and most horrific way was certainly not expected.

He was a master storyteller, and had a real charisma that was a blend of the New England farm he grew up on and the Down-East Maine lifestyle that he so enthusiastically adopted.  He was ALWAYS there with an ear to listen, and a real care and concern for those whom he held dear to heart.

If he ever made you smile.. or regaled you with a tale of outrageous adventure (yes, those were all true, lol)..  or sat by a fireside and shared a beer and a moment of well-earned rest..   Would you please help his family, and honor his life with some much needed support?

At the moment, funeral expenses are at the forefront of the stress that is adding to the grief we are all finding so difficult to bear.

Any help, would be so sincerely appreciated by his family
and all those who loved him.
