Maine Challenge TV show & yard signs

The election is weeks away, and every warning light in our democracy is blinking red. Trump and his minions are slowing down the mail, cutting short the Census, casting doubt on the safety of absentee ballots, threatening to ignore election results, angling to postpone the election, and - ominously - parking paramilitary forces in Democratic strongholds across the country. In short, they are working in broad daylight to invalidate our vote.

The Covid 19 death toll is above 170,000. Millions have lost their jobs; over 5 million have lost their health insurance. Systemic racism is in the spotlight. The post-COVID world that emerges from this catastrophe must not simply be a return to business as usual.

Lincoln County Indivisible has partnered with the Artists Rapid Response Team (ARRT!)
to create compelling yard signs that address core issues of the day. These are gorgeous original works of art which we are mass-producing to sprinkle over Lincoln County and further afield between now and November. This requires financial support.

All signs are available from Nigel Calder, 47 Main Street, Newcastle (next door to the Second Congregational Church). Phone: [phone redacted].

In these times of physical distancing and sheltering at home let’s proclaim our support for fundamental change in the post-COVID world. We will share these signs widely within and beyond Maine.

These signs won’t fix the world. But together we can work on sending a message and making our corner of it better and healthier for everyone. Put one or more signs in your yard. Make a statement about the world that needs to emerge as we move beyond the COVID-19 pandemic.

All signs are available from Nigel Calder, 47 Main Street, Newcastle (next door to the Second Congregational Church). Phone: [phone redacted].

LCI is seeking a $5-$10 donation for the single-sided signs, and $10-$15 for the double-sided to fund the printing of additional ARRT! designs and to support giving signs to those with high visibility sites who cannot afford them.

Lincoln County Indivisible
is one of 6,000 grassroots Indivisible groups across the country taking action to resist the Trump Administration, elect progressive leaders, and realize bold progressive policies. Here's what we're doing right now to fight for democracy:

* Calling attention to the USPS crisis with "teaching protests" at local post offices, including signs, voter handouts, and lobbying tools.
* Hosting Vote Forward postcard parties to boost turnout for progressive candidates in battleground districts all over the country.
* Hosting Maine-only virtual phone banks and text banks for progressive candidates here at home.
* Partnering with the Artists Rapid Response Team (ARRT!) to create compelling yard signs that address core issues of the day.
* Producing Maine Challenge, a weekly half-hour TV show engaging voters with state and local candidates and issues of the day - racism in Maine, the BIW strike, election security and more.

Lincoln County Indivisible is completely volunteer run. Your donation will support the direct costs of our activism in Maine.

ARRT! The Artists Rapid Response Team (ARRT!) is a project of the Union of Maine Visual Artists. The ARRTists are members of the UMVA who collaborate with progressive organizations throughout Maine to create “visual soundbites,” frequently in the form of banners, to be used to draw attention to important issues. ARRT! is grateful for the support of the UMVA and the Broad Reach Fund of the Maine Community Foundation.
