I'm the mother of four amazing littles.
They're my whole world and always have been.
Am I perfect? Gosh no, but I've always protected and loved those littles and would give my life for theirs.
Right now, I'm in the middle of a heated and very litigious custody battle for the three boys. The case began in early 2015 and the boys were given to their father in September 2015.
I now see my two youngest sons every other weekend and have had minimal contact with the oldest. Even though my daughter is not part of that battle, she still is very much affected by it.
I cannot go into much more detail without jeopardizing my case, but right now I'm a pro se litigant. This means I have no attorney. I'm three weeks out from the final custody hearing with lots of loose ends left to wrap up.
Surprisingly enough, even after this year of hell, I'm still only asking for 50-50 custody because that's what's in the best interest of my sons. They need both parents, not just one.
I'm scared to death of losing my boys permanently just because I don't have an attorney. I don't have much money either because the other party in this case receives court-ordered child support at this time. I've lost two vehicles, almost lost my home, and really don't have much left to give or save.
I've found one attorney still willing to take my case this close to trial, and his fee (for the entire case) is $7500, but I have to pay him by Monday, June 27th. I've interviewed countless attorneys and feel he's the best one to bring my littles home. Side bar: I previously had an attorney, but he did not adequately represent me, so we parted ways. And yes, I've tried looking for pro bono and reduced rate options too.
Any additional funds raised (whether I raise over the amount needed or if I pass the deadline without reaching my goal) will be donated to a reputable veteran charity and earmarked for helping veterans with family law and custody issues.
