SO, here's what's been happening:
On the 15th, I woke up to a clear puddle near my door. No odour, but clearly from dog because there was no other source. She was sluggish and slow, and if you know anything about the Wigglebutt you know she's quick to jump at anything even at nearly 12 years old. I was worried, but she regained herself throughout the evening and night after spending a lot of time throwing up water (what the clear liquid must have been) during the day.
Today, on the 16th, I woke up to a puddle of grass filled water on the bathroom floor, and poor little miss Maila laying on the kitchen floor in a massive puddle of urine and started making phone calls. By 5pm, she'd been rushed (emphasis on RUSHED) into surgery to remove an infected uterus. At 8pm, I had to transfer her myself to an emergency vet for overnight care. I might get her in the morning. Night. Next day. It's all up in the air right now. I'm probably going to be up all night just hoping I don't get a phone call until her day doctor gets back at 9am. He was not impressed with how the surgery was handled, and I'm terrified about that.
Onto the obvious so I can stop crying: her current vet bills are 2943,15$. We've received a number of etransfer donations so we're conatantly lowering the amount needed to reflect that. Any extra left over will be donated to some sort of spay/neuter program.
I'm an artist during covid with credit card debt I've been attacking because I didn't expect anything to go wrong with my perfectly healthy dog. My savings are already gone. I am beyond overwhelmed.
I know things are weird right now, a lot of people are struggling more than usual, but if you can do anything to help us right now so I have a little less to worry about, I would be forever grateful.
