Maija's Mounting Medical Bills

Thirty-nine years ago my sister, Maija Lawrence, fought the most courageous battle of her life...cancer. Before she barely left our mother's lap, she was suddenly thrown into this painful and life-altering illness, for which our parents could do little to ease her suffering. 
Miraculously, Maija overcame her battle with leukemia and won. She has been cancer-free and living a beautiful life.
But now, so many years later, the very things that helped her win her battle showed their own ugly faces. Maija's physicians have told her that the tumors that have been growing in her brain and on her skull are likely the result of the radiation she received from her cancer treatments. Maija has already undergone three surgeries to remove these tumors.
One behind her eye, and the other two on her skull. These surgeries have literally bankrupted her. She is struggling to work full-time as a beloved Pre-K teacher, while trying to finish her college degree, which she has had to put on hold at so many times through this process. As she has gone back to the doctor recently, she has discovered two new developments. The first of which is that the doctors have found eight (8) nodules on her thyroid, as well as her thyroid actually being swollen. The second situation now is that they have found polips in her vocal cords. And as many of you know, having a functioning voice is very important when you are a teacher.
We are now asking our family, friends, acquaintances, and, any other individuals who feel compelled to help Maija, to please donate whatever you can. Her immediate need is money for her upcoming speech therapy and further doctor visits. Besides these immediate needs, we are hoping to raise the money to pay for her further surgery for the tumor she has currently on her skull and any possible thyroid surgeries. I will be keeping this account updated with further information and will adjust the goal amount when those costs become more readily available and concrete.
