The Dr. Matt Magrath Scholarship

It's true. Matt Magrath has more heart then a month full of valentines days. If you are reading this, he's probably touched you in some sort of way. Whether it a joke, a story, a kind word, or his infectious smile and laugh. Matt was diagnosed with espogual cancer late last summer and has been battling it with a fierce fire in his heart. Recently, we learned that Matt's cancer has spread to his abdomen----and it is called peritoneal carcinomatosis. Matt was recently moved to Hospice care but we are hopeful and praying that he will regain the strength he will need to punch cancer in the mouth. If you know Matt, you've most likely heard about his journey in obtaining his doctorate. In speaking with Matt today he said.....my Antioch family healed me and brought me full circle...I just love you all. Little did Matt know he was the one that healed us. His kindness, his curiousity in others, of making people feel included and valued...is a lesson we will all carry with us forever as we move forward.
It's hard for any of the Antioch Family to think of a world without Matt Magrath---and so we would like to honor him, in hopes that he might be able to hear our plan within the next week or so of establishing a scholarship in his name at Antioch University. His classmates of C9 would love to make it happen but we need your help too. See, university requirements require all new scholarships to at least reach the minimum balance of 10,000 dollars to become official. And so, we are going to try with all of our might to get this done as fast as we can so that we can present this officially to Matt within the next week. While it seems like a big feat, we all know that Matt loved a good challenge and underdog competition. So let's try to win this game for Matt and show him just how much his impact has rippled out into this world. If the balance of 10,000 is reached....the scholarship will be given to new PhD students who emobody the spirit of Dr. Matt Magrath----kind, authentic, inclusive, and a thirst for knowing the hard to love.
