Riccardo Magherini è morto chiedendo aiuto e urlando “Sto morendo!” mentre era bloccato a terra dai carabinieri, a Firenze. Riccardo è stato preso a calci dai Carabinieri mentre era a terra e in manette.
Riccardo era confuso, in quel periodo aveva attacchi di panico ed era alterato, ma la sua morte è stata causata da quelli che pensava fossero accorsi per aiutarlo.
Dopo i due gradi di processo in cui i Carabinieri sono stati ritenuti colpevoli della morte di Riccardo, gli stessi sono stati assolti in Cassazione perché il fatto non costituisce reato come se fosse normale praticare un fermo a terra in quel modo, con un ginocchio sopra il collo di Riccardo, mentre lui grida che sta per morire e poi soffoca. Senza tener conto delle molte testimonianze e dei video girati quella sera.
La famiglia di Riccardo ora vuole ricorrere alla Corte Europea dei diritti umani di Strasburgo e il papà di Riccardo ha dichiarato che per fare ciò vuole vendersi tutto, così da continuare a portare avanti la sua battaglia per la giustizia.
Ma io non credo sia giusto: questa è una battaglia di tutti e dunque tutti noi dobbiamo aiutare i Magherini a ricorrere alla Corte europea per i diritti umani.

Riccardo Magherini died begging for help and shouting “I am dying !” while he was on the ground immobilized by Italian police (carabinieri), in Florence. Riccardo was kicked and beaten by the Carabinieri while on the ground, handcuffed.
Riccardo was confused , during that time he had suffered from panic attacks and he was upset and maybe under the influence of something, but his death was caused by the very same people that Riccardo thought were there to help him.
After two court cases (first degree and appeal) in which the Carabinieri we found guilty of manslaughter for the death Riccardo, these same officers were acquitted and all charges were dismissed in the final (3rd) trial in Cassazione because “il fatto non costituisce reato” the evidence is not a crime, as if it is normal procedure to immobilize a person in the manner, the officer pinning him down with his knee on the back of Riccardo’s neck, while he cries out that he is dying and then he does only a few moments later, suffocated. Despite the numerous witnesses who testified in court and the evidence, there is a video which was recorded that night from a window overlooking the scene.
Riccardo’s family now was to bring the case forward in front of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, France and Riccardo’s father declared in an interview that in order to do so he is prepared to sell everything he has, so that he may continue his battle and have justice for his son.
I do not believe this is right: this is a battle for everyone and therefore everyone of us should help the Magherini family bring the case for Riccardo in front of the European Court of Human Rights.
