Hi everyone! I wanted to do a Kickstarter type fundraiser because I wanted to offer something back to everyone that helped, but instead, I'll simply put it into words here: anyone who donates $25 dollars or more will receive a parenting coaching session from me after my graduation, with access to a discounted group parenting coaching rate. Anyone who knows me knows I always keep my promises, so I'm banking on the trust I've built being a good person all these years for you to know it's true.
I also want to say that I realize these are insane times. Everyone needs help. I thought long and hard about asking, and what made me decide to ask is that I am using this money to embark on a road to financial independence. I am asking for help to be in a position where I don't have to ask anymore. And- that I always, always give back. Once I have set clients, I will offer sliding scale spots and one scholarship spot free to clients who need it.
Long story short: I am fundraising to pay for my Kai Institute of Parenting certification in parent coaching. After two years of looking for a career that would fulfill my requirements, I finally found one, and I'm truly hopeful for the first time in a long time that I will be able to be financially independent and stable as a single mom to my youngest child. I have applied for and received a scholarship rate: if I pay in one lump sum it is 3,000 dollars, and I will use 1,000 dollars to pay for babysitters for Ever and setting up my website.
My requirements:
- The position should allow a stable and livable income. In California the average salary per year for a parenting coach is between 45 and 65,000. This means I can make more than that if I set my time and mind to it- many parenting coaches work part-time as they raise their kids. I will be doing this full-time.
- The position should be long-term and sustainable for my physical health issues. When I have Hashimoto's flares I cannot be on my feet for hours, I have to nap every day, and I have to go slower. This career will allow the flexibility for that, and most of my work will be done remotely (for foreseeable future)
- The position should not require weekends so that I can spend weekends with Ever.
- The position should allow for me to continuously learn and grow and expand.
- The position should be meaningful.
Coaching positions in general are blowing up around the country. I have done my research and The Jai Institute For Parenting is respected and graduates an average of 250 parenting coaches a year. I spoke on the phone with two graduates, both moms who are very happy with their careers now.
What I Bring to this Field:
- Most obviously, I am the mom of four children, ages 11, 20, 25 and 28, two boys and two girls, all close to me. I have been through many parenting challenges and am a deeply compassionate and non-judgemental person.
- I taught preschool for 15 years.
- I ''almost' have an Associates in ECE, early childhood education. I did not finish a math and a biology class so did not earn the Associates, but I earned all the relevant ECE units.
- My writing background will serve me so well- I am already imagining the Ebooks I can create and offer on my website.
- Although the last month of the training involves the marketing and business aspects of this, I am already well-versed in social media marketing and already have a clear path in mind toward getting my clients.
- Years of reading and research and staying attuned to the psychology and brain research of childhood development.
- I have been through many systems of care, and undestand how to navigate finding all kind of supports for my clients.
