Help Maggie Get Life-Saving Surgery

Donation protected
Many of you may not be aware, but Stephanie Pawson's 8 years young American Bulldog "Maggie" was taken to the Steveston Veterinary Hospital Friday evening with severe swelling to her throat (and we're talking severe like she had a grapefruit under her throat/jaw fur)........ With labored breathing and the inability to eat or drink Maggie immediately underwent head and throat X-rays, cytology, and a full blood panel.
Through the night Maggie seemed to stabilize and was able to ingest some spoon fed breakfast, and Was able to embark on a short walk.
Fast forward to late Saturday afternoon, when the panels were back from the labs, Maggie revisited the vet for a review of the panels and a follow up check. Although a couple markers were slightly elevated nothing jumped out as conclusive to what might be the cause of the severe swelling. Maggie was prescribed antibiotics with the first dose administered on site with an advisory to visit the ER should conditions deteriorate again. Less than 30 minutes later Maggie's swelling became so extreme and her breathing so laboured she was rushed to the Animal Emergency Clinic of the Fraser Valley. She was admitted immediately and provided with oral sedation. Within 40 minutes of arrival Maggie had to be placed under heavy IV sedation, and intubated as the swelling in her airway closed from the normal size of a toonie to less than a dime!! After being intubated for nearly 12 hours Maggie was sedated and relaxed enough to have the tube removed however in order to maintain relaxed breathing she has been under continuous IV sedation and 24 HR watch.
Tomorrow (Monday) specialist J. Hutchinson will be returning from vacation early to perform a CT scan to determine the underlying cause of the Ranula and if there may also be cancer (please pray it is not the "C" word). Surgery is imminent but how invasive the required procedure has yet to be determined. Maggie's vet bill has already surpassed the $3000 mark and with surgery is estimated by the ER clinic to be in the neighborhood of $8000-$9000.

To many, Maggie may be "just a dog" but in reality this is Steph's baby girl whom she loves more than anything in the world. Maggie has brought nothing but love, joy, companionship, and smiles to everyone who has had the pleasure of getting to know her. Maggie is such a happy girl, so full of life and fighting so very hard. It is not her time to go.

I beg of YOU TO HELP Stephanie Pawson raise the funds she requires for her baby girl to get the life saving surgery she requires. You don't have to be a millionaire to be her hero, every dollar counts. She'll even accept your empty bottles!!  And in the event any extra funds (above the actual cost) are raised they will be donated on behalf of Maggie to the Richmond Animal Protection Society (R.A.P.S.).
