Madison McMahill Accident Recovery

On August 8, 2017, Madison McMahill was in a life-altering car accident on Highway 40, about 18 miles outside of Duchesne, Utah. The accident has been attributed to rainy conditions and excess water on the roadway, which caused Madison’s car to hydroplane. A local resident heard the accident and saw Madison’s car flip end over end, eventually landing on its roof about 400’ down an embankment. Madison was extricated from the vehicle and life-flighted to Intermountain Medical Center in Salt Lake City in critical/life-threatening condition.

Madison suffered significant injuries in the crash including a broken and protruding femur, shattered knee and ankle, fractured tibia, fibula, pelvis, spine, ribs, collarbone, wrist, clavicle, and sacrum. She also suffered blood loss and multiple injuries that required stitches and staples. Madison’s doctor indicated that her injuries are in the top five percent of trauma injuries he’s seen during his 25-year career.

To date, Madison has had multiple surgeries and she still has a long road of surgeries and healing ahead. The family does have some medical insurance, but the out-of-pocket expenses are adding up very quickly. Madison is facing months to years of physical therapy and rehab.
