Madison Moore. (Maddie)

Hi, my name is Debra Samson. I am raising funds to purchase my 17 year old great niece Maddie a pretty wig to support her through her battle with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and also to help with her medical expenses. Hodgkin’s Lymphoma is a cancer in the lymphatic system which limits the body’s ability to fight infection. Maddy went to the hospital in March as she was having difficulty breathing. As it turned out, Maddy had a tumor near her heart and lung that was the size of a grapefruit. Her lung was collapsing and things were very scary for 3 weeks. The doctors at Texas Children’s were wonderful and took control. Maddy has had 2 chemo treatments so far and will continue every two weeks through August. One CT Scan is $3500 out of pocket as an example of how expensive it is to fight cancer.

We all realize the devastation for a woman when she loses her hair to chemo and this is especially difficult for a 17 year old girl but she is very brave. We shopped for wigs today and were shocked at the cost but I am hoping with your help to buy her a pretty human hair wig as soon as possible. Maddy’s hair is falling out pretty fast and I hope to find her a wig that will help her feel CONFIDENT and as beautiful on the inside and out as she truly is and always will be during her fight. I am a breast cancer survivor who fought the cancer battle at 45 years of age and know first hand that chemo is very difficult. Our young girl, our Madison, is a fighter. We know she will win this war but we can’t comprehend the sadness a young 17 year girl must feel not only fighting cancer, but also losing her beautiful sweet hair. Please donate anything you can afford and listen to your heart. I will be posting Madison’s progress and also a picture when she dresses for prom with her pretty new hair.
