<div>Madeline is a 7-year-old Yorkie surrendered by her neglectful and cruel owner who viewed her only as a "cash cow" and when her very sick and broken little body could not make any more babies, they dumped her at a shelter. She was very frightened and alone when Save a Yorkie Rescue stepped in to help this sweet girl.

<div>After transport was arranged and Madeline arrived in her foster home, she was given a good meal and a nice bath, but our foster mom noticed immediately that Madeline was in distress. She was rushed to the emergency medical center for treatment. Upon examination little Madeline was found to have advanced pyometra (a severe infection of the uterus) and a massive mammary tumor on her tiny tummy, both needed to be removed immediately. They had to do x rays and an ultrasound first to be sure they were not missing anything. Madeline was admitted and scheduled for surgery in the morning. (Apparently her pyometra was releasing the infection through her vulva and they were able to wait till the morning for surgery). Thank goodness this was caught in time to save this sweet little girl.

<div>The surgery went very well, and Madeline came home to her foster mom the very next day. However, we are still waiting on the results of biopsy of the mammary tumor and hoping for a good prognosis. Madeline's lifesaving surgery cost over $6000 with more lab work and follow-up. Save a Yorkie Rescue is very happy to be able to give this little girl a fighting chance at a happy and healthy life.
