MADDOG OUR BROTHER, OUR FRIEND INDEED

WE’RE HERE TO HELP OUR MATE IN NEED

For those of you that have the pleasure of knowing Jason “Maddog” Hampton you are well aware of the tragic motorbike accident he was involved in on the 4th August 2016.

It was on a notorious stretch of road on the Bruce Highway at Kybong and both Maddog and Rick were rushed to Nambour Hospital in a serious condition.  This tragedy resulted in Maddog spending close to 7 weeks in hospital and undergoing numerous operations, mainly to his seriously damaged right leg.

It has been a very long and always painful recovery and further operations we required on this damaged leg.  Not a day goes by where he is not in constant pain, and the use of a walking stick is probably the only reason he can actually get up and walk.

Unfortunately, Maddog has now been given a very sad ultimatum from his surgeons that between December and January, they are left with no alternative but to amputate his leg from the knee down.        It’s such tragic news and definitely life altering.

To date, Maddog and his beautiful wife, Chantal, have received absolutely no assistance from Centrelink or the government.  He was basically told that he was still able to work, even though he has been working in the civil industry for the last 20 years, and all those who know him and see the pain he is in, would understand that it is physically impossible for him to resume his duties in the civil industry.

Due to this, Chantal has had to basically work 24/7 just for them to survive.  She is amazing and has been by her husband’s side tirelessly throughout this whole situation.  She certainly deserves a medal and her courage and strength during this ordeal has been nothing short of amazing.

Maddog has accepted this decision for his upcoming surgery, boy is he one tough bloke.  We all know the endless hours that Maddog has dedicated to helping others whilst involved in assisting returned servicemen when they come back home and struggle with daily interactions and rehabilitation. Now it’s our turn to help our Brother and his gorgeous wife in coping with the adjustments that are now going to be thrust upon them.

Jason & Chantal will be facing enormous challenges in the coming weeks so we have set up this page to help them reduce any financial stress they may have to face over this time.

We would love to help raise some money, for the main purpose of allowing Chantal to have at least four weeks off work when Maddog has this amputation.  Whether it be just a small amount or anything more significant, all would be so much appreciated.  Without our help, and with no government help at all, Chantal won’t even be able to take any time off to help with Maddog’s recovery or transport him to rehabilitation after the amputation. Also there is going to be lots of costs associated with travel to and from rehab after the amputation and through our fundraising we may be able to assist in getting Maddog a decent prosthesis.

This is going to be a gruelling time for Maddog and Chantal and we would love to do everything we can to help with his recovery and transition.  Come on all our Loners family and friends, and all those who know and love our crazy larrikin!! Let’s band together and help a brother in need.
