Maddie’s Liver Transplant

Our six month old baby girl, Maddie, is awaiting a lifesaving liver transplant at Kaiser Los Angeles Medical Center three hours away from our home. It’s something no parent wants to hear their baby needs a transplant to survive. As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time for our family. My husband and I need to be with Maddie while she’s undergoing care and being monitored. She’s a brave little baby. Maddie was diagnosed with Interlobular Biliary Duct Paucity at three months old. This is Maddie’s second time to be admitted to the hospital. This time we are not sure how long the stay will be. We continue to pray she improves on her own and are seeing some small improvements, but we know we’re right where we need to be when it’s time for a liver transplant. The surgery will take place at Children’s Hospital LA. We are currently meeting with the transplant team to determine what needs to happen next. Unable to work right now, food and transportation costs are adding up quickly. It’s an hour by hour, day by day wait.
