Maddie’s journey after transplant

Donation protected
As many on you know Maddie received her gift of new lungs on April 20th 2017. She has been doing amazing and we were only having to make monthly trips to stanford for routine check ups. Unfortunately in August she started coughing and struggling to breathe a little. She was admitted into the hospital for 15 days to be treated for pneumonia. They quickly discovered that pneumonia wasn’t the main cause for her declining health. Our worst fears were confirmed when her broncoscopy showed she was in chronic rejection most likely caused from the pneumonia. She now is doing weekly treatments (2 days a week) of plasmapheresis which is basically dialysis to treat the rejection. The weekly trips to Palo Alto to keep her healthy and alive  are killing us financially.  We are spending about $300 every week on gas and food while we are there. We sold our business to help with the cost of the trips and to buy a gas efficient car but of course with our luck the car broke down after a week and we have not had the funds to fix it. Our family is barely  scraping by right now because of all of this and this is my last hope. Anything helps and is greatly appreciated! ❤️
