Maddie’s Paralympic opportunity appeal

This page has been set up to try and raise the crucial funding currently needed for 15 year old Maddie to continue with her amazing pathway within the Team GB Women’s Wheelchair Basketball programme.
Only recently Maddie was named as British Wheelchair Basketball’s “Female Player of the Year”, this is in addition to the many other accolades, achievements and accomplishments she has attained over the past 3 years, all of which, now see her on the very cusp of selection into the Senior GB Womens squad and thus the amazing possibility of potential selection to compete at this years 2020 Paralympics out in Tokyo in August, and that is just a starter to what is assured of being a fantastic career for her as an Elite Paralympic Athlete. I’m sure you’ll agree this is a truly amazing achievement given her age and the fact that she has done all of this in just 3 years and whilst still attending school too.
Unfortunately, with the amazing level she has now reached, this has come at a very high personal cost and we are struggling massively with the mounting costs of all her weekly training sessions, in addition to her National League, Women’s League, Junior League, Regional League games, tournaments and competitions plus all the Team GB Academy and GB Senior Women’s Acceleration camps she needs to attend up and down the country as part of her GB development and Accelerated Team GB pathway.
Although Maddie has received some charity nominated funding through her sports governing body over the past months, along with a few, very kind, donations earlier on in her career, her main funding over the past 3 years has come from a pension fund her Dad cashed in to support her with. Unfortunately this money has now been totally expended in getting Maddie to where she is today, leaving her with just the charity nominated funding to support her at a level that will only cover around 40% of her total costs going forwards. We are therefore sending out this impassioned appeal for the help, support and generosity of family, friends, work colleagues, bosses, local/national businesses, charities, etc., etc., to help Maddie so that she can hopefully continue on her amazing pathway and make her “Dream” a reality.
Any money donated to Maddie will go solely towards the following:
• Fuel costs.
• Travel costs.
• Subsistence.
• Equipment, equipment maintenance and accessories.
We would like to convey our heartfelt and sincerest thanks to you for taking the time to read this appeal and if you feel you can help in any way possible, irrespective of how big or small a donation you can make, we cannot thank you enough, as each £1 donated will take young Maddie one massive step closer to proudly and passionately representing her country at the Paralympics.
