Maddie's Cancer Treatment Fund

On July 22, 2018, four year old Madelyn (Maddie) Hartman was diagnosed with a brain tumor after having severe headaches and nausea. She was rushed to Lurie Children’s Hospital for surgery the next day. The surgeon was able to remove 99% of the tumor on July 23.

If having the tumor wasn’t enough, the doctors informed the family that the tumor was a grade 3 Ependymoma, a rare cancer and the worst grade you can have for it.  Maddie will be having a spinal tap and additional MRI to see if there is any cancer present in her spine.

Maddie will also start intensive proton radiation treatments, as well as chemo for the remaining 1% tumor and any cancer cells that could be present. 

As anyone can imagine, this has been heartbreaking for Maddie’s family.  Her mom, Michelle, as primary wage earner for the family, has not been to work since July 22nd.  She is taking an unpaid leave of absence for 12 weeks or longer so she can care for Maddie at home and during all the treatments and doctor visits.

The family needs help with all the incurring medical bills and to continue health insurance while Michelle is on leave from work.
