Mad Dash for Masks

As we await decisions from our community leaders as to what model public schools will use this fall, it's hard to envision what "back to school" will look like for families. But one thing is clear: masks decrease transmission rates and will make schools safer for students, teachers, and their families.

Title I schools, which serve low income populations, will face an even greater struggle during the pandemic. Resources are not available for schools to provide an appropriate number of masks to students to ensure safety, and many families are unable to provide their own masks. 

Our goal is to provide all students in the Clarkston High School Cluster (in DeKalb County, GA), a cluster in which all schools from elementary to high school are Title One, with a back to school pack of 3 cloth reusable masks.

To achieve this goal, we need to collect 19,000 cloth masks by August 1st.

Funds donated to this campaign will support the purchase of materials used by makers who agree to sew masks, and masks purchased from businesses with a preference for local community businesses. In the event we are able to collect more masks than needed, we will distribute remaining masks to other Title One schools within DeKalb County.
